Eastman Chemical Retains MACTEC to Conduct Comprehensive Pilot Program
KENNESAW, GA, Dec. 15, 2009 – MACTEC has been awarded a contract by Eastman
Chemical Company’s Technology organization to implement a facility asset
management pilot program encompassing 72 areas that comprise seven building
complexes, representing about one million square feet. MACTEC Facility Lifecycle
Group, Director Bill Faesenmeier, made the announcement.
The project, slated for completion by early January 2010, will provide Eastman
Technology with strategic facility assessment data to effectively develop their
future infrastructure plans at their Kingsport, TN headquarters.
According to
Technical Associate – Engineering Manager Bob Edwards, who works for Eastman
Technology, many of the buildings are quite old.
“The pilot program will
complement our internal strategic space planning initiatives as one key goal is
to efficiently locate employees into economically friendly buildings,” said
Edwards. “It will provide us with critical condition data that will allow us to
determine whether a particular building should be remodeled, retrofitted or even
reconfigured for other purposes.”
Eastman’s chemicals, fibers and plastics are
used as key ingredients in products that people use every day. Approximately
10,000 Eastman employees around the world blend technical expertise and
innovation to deliver practical solutions. The company is committed to finding
sustainable business opportunities within the diverse markets it serves. A
